May 27 - 29th – The Muncaster Festival A carnival atmosphere on the front lawn of Muncaster Castle during the three days of this popular festival on Cumbria's West Coast. It's an invitation to all runners of all abilities to take part in their choice of either a 17 kilometre run; one of 10 kilometres; a 5.7 kilometre Fun Run; a 10 kilometre Nordic Walk; or a “Teddy Dash”.
There is the shorter one of a 10 mile circular walk via Smardale and Waitby Nature Reserves and a longer one graded as “strenuous” via Ewbank Scar and 9 Standards Rigg. Dogs are not allowed other than those registered as assistance dogs.

May 25 - 26th – Ireby Festival A Lake District music event in the peaceful village of Ireby around 12 miles from Cockermouth surrounded by the northern fells of the Lake District & Cumbria. There will be FREE expert demonstrations and a hot food court. The day begins at 6am with a choice of walks of a challenging 20 miles including 10 summits; an 11 mile route with 5 summits, or a third option of a guided 9 mile Wildlife Wander for families and friends.
It's a festival of music to suit most tastes performed in small comfortable venues around the village and on a main stage. 26-28th May - Eskdale Art Show St Bega’s School Eskdale, Holmrook, Cumbria.
